We collect information in two ways:
Information you provide directly
When you use the Find My Power quiz, we collect your address (to look up solar data), email address (if you choose to save your results), and any optional information you share such as your monthly electricity bill, budget preferences, and energy savings motivations.
When you sign up for our installer directory, we collect your business name, contact information, service area, and certifications.
When you contact us, we collect the information you share in your message.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit solcountry.com, we automatically collect certain technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. We use cookies and similar technologies for this purpose (see Section 5 below).
Information from third-party data sources
To provide personalized solar recommendations, Sol Country queries several external APIs using your address, including:
Google Solar API and NREL PVWatts — to assess solar potential at your address.
EIA and NREL — to look up your utility company and electricity rates.
RentCast — to identify property type and characteristics.
US Census Bureau — to determine area median income for incentive qualification.
FEMA and Open-Meteo — for flood zone and weather data.
OpenStates — for solar legislation status in your state.
DSIRE (NC Clean Energy Technology Center) — for incentive program availability.
We do not sell your address or personal data to these third parties. We query their services to return information to you.
We use your information to:
Provide personalized solar recommendations based on your address and preferences.
Send you results and follow-up information if you share your email address.
Notify you when solar legislation passes in your state if you sign up for alerts.
Alert you to expiring incentive programs that apply to your situation.
Operate and improve the Sol Country platform.
Respond to your questions and requests.
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you without human review.
Sol Country earns affiliate commissions when you purchase products or services through links on our platform. This is how we fund the free tools we provide.
When you click an affiliate link on Sol Country, the merchant you visit may place cookies on your device to track whether you complete a purchase. These cookies are controlled by the merchant, not by Sol Country. Their use is governed by each merchant's own privacy policy.

Sol Country does not sell your personal information to affiliate partners. We share only the information necessary to credit us with a referral (typically a cookie or click identifier).
If you would like to opt out of affiliate tracking cookies, you can do so by adjusting your browser settings to block third-party cookies.
Sol Country shares your information only in these circumstances:
With service providers who help us operate the platform
We use Supabase (database and infrastructure), Resend (email delivery), Klaviyo (email marketing), Shopify (e-commerce), and Lovable (platform development). These providers process data on our behalf and under our instructions.
With installer directory members
If you request professional installation through the quiz and you are located in a Premier installer's service area, we share your requested kit, zip code, and contact information (if provided) with that installer. We tell you when this happens.
When required by law
We may share information if required by a valid legal process, to protect the rights or safety of Sol Country or others, or to enforce our terms.
In a business transfer
If Sol Country is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Sol Country uses cookies to remember your preferences and analyze how visitors use our site.

Quiz session data where you did not share an email: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
Quiz results where you shared an email: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Installer directory accounts: retained while your account is active plus 2 years after closure.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@solcountry.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access: Request a copy of the information we hold about you.
Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate information.
Deletion: Request that we delete your information.
Opt-out of marketing: Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
Opt-out of data sale: Sol Country does not sell personal information, so this right does not apply.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). Sol Country is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at info@solcountry.com.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our platform is hosted on Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption for data at rest and in transit.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our responsibility to protect your data seriously.
If we become aware of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Sol Country contains links to third-party websites including affiliate partner sites, government resources, and utility company websites. These sites have their own privacy policies.
