About Sol Country

America's Energy
Access Platform.

Sol Country was built on one belief: every American — renter or homeowner, apartment or house — deserves honest information about their energy options. Not a sales pitch. Not a lead form. The actual numbers for their actual address.

The mission

We built what we couldn't
find anywhere else.

Sol Country was built on one belief: the energy that hits your home belongs to you — not to the utility that charges you for it.

Balcony solar legislation is moving fast across the US. Six states have signed laws and three more await governor signature. Dozens more are advancing bills. A renter in Colorado will have the legal right to install a solar panel on their balcony starting January 1, 2027. Most of them don't know it yet.

Sol Country was built to close that gap. We analyze your specific address using the same data sources that solar installers and utilities use — NREL's PVWatts satellite data, EIA electricity rates, DSIRE incentive programs, state legislation databases — and give you a personalized answer in 30 seconds.

We are a Colorado company. We don't install panels. We don't sell electricity. We explain your options honestly, connect you with verified products and installers, and earn a commission when you find a product that's right for you. That commission never affects our recommendations.

How Sol Country works

14 data sources.
30 seconds. Your address.

NREL PVWatts
Calculates your rooftop or balcony solar potential using NASA satellite data — accurate to your specific address.
EIA Electricity Rates
Your actual utility rate from the US Energy Information Administration — the number that determines your real savings.
DSIRE
Every federal, state, utility, and local incentive program at your zip code — maintained by NC State University under DOE funding.
OpenStates
Real-time tracking of balcony solar legislation in all 50 states — updated as bills advance.
WattTime
The carbon intensity of your local grid — so your solar savings include environmental impact too.
RentCast
Property data for your address — helps Sol Country understand whether you rent or own and what type of building you're in.

Sol Country also integrates Census ACS, BLS CPI, HUD, Google Maps, Pexels, Resend, Klaviyo, and Stripe to power the full platform.

How we make money

We earn affiliate commissions.
Here's exactly how that works.

What we earn
What we earn
Sol Country earns a commission when you purchase a product or subscribe to a service through our links. Commissions range from $10 per community solar subscription to $400 per Powerwall installation.
What we don't do
What we don't do
We never accept payment to feature a product. We never adjust our savings calculations to favor higher-commission products. We never recommend products we wouldn't recommend to our own family.
What this means for you
What this means for you
Our recommendation engine uses payback period, savings rate, and legal availability — not commission rate — to rank products. The Sol Country Pick badge goes to the product with the fastest payback at your address.
Your data

What Sol Country collects
and why.

What we collect
When you use Find My Power, Sol Country records your address-level solar potential, utility rate, and which energy options are available to you. We never sell your personal information to third parties.
How we use it
Your data improves Sol Country's recommendations for every customer. Aggregated and anonymized geographic data helps Sol Country understand where solar demand is growing — which makes the platform more accurate for everyone.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@solcountry.com. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
