Every way to reduce your energy costs — not just solar.
Most energy platforms stop at solar. Sol Country goes further. Your electricity bill, your gas bill, your transportation costs — every dollar leaving your wallet for energy is a dollar Sol Country can help you keep.
This guide covers every product category that makes a meaningful dent in your annual energy spend — with real numbers, honest payback periods, and no upselling.

You can't reduce what you can't see.
The average US home wastes $100–$200/year on phantom load — devices drawing power around the clock while doing nothing. Smart plugs make it visible. Energy monitors break it down circuit by circuit.
Most electronics draw power even when off — TVs, game consoles, chargers, cable boxes. A smart plug shows you exactly what each device consumes 24/7 and lets you cut it automatically.
The Emporia Vue 3 installs in your electrical panel and tracks every circuit in real time — so you can see that your dryer costs $180/year to run and your always-on fridge costs $70/year.
Smart plugs with TOU scheduling automatically run high-draw appliances during off-peak hours when electricity is cheapest. Set it once, save every day.
A $22 Kasa smart plug eliminates $30–$50/year in phantom load from a typical entertainment center. Payback: under 6 months.
Many utilities offer $25–$150 rebates on smart thermostats like Ecobee and Nest. Xcel Energy Colorado offers rebates for qualifying smart thermostats through their energy efficiency program.
Some utilities offer rebates on whole-home energy monitors. Check your utility's rebate page or Sol Country's incentive lookup at your address.
Your stove and dryer are costing you more than you think.
Kitchen and laundry account for 30–40% of a home's energy use. Switching from gas to induction and from resistance heating to heat pump technology cuts these costs dramatically — and the HEEHRA rebate program makes it affordable.
An electric stove is about three times more energy efficient than a gas stove — and an induction stove is even more efficient than standard electric. Induction heats only the pot, not your kitchen, cutting both energy costs and cooling bills in summer.
Traditional dryers burn electricity to generate heat. Heat pump dryers move heat — the same principle as your refrigerator running in reverse. They cost more upfront but save $120/year in electricity and qualify for HEEHRA rebates of up to $840.
New ENERGY STAR dishwashers use dramatically less hot water than hand washing or older models — saving on both water and water heating costs. At $0.133/kWh, a high-efficiency dishwasher saves approximately $50/year over an older model.
A heat pump water heater moves heat from the air into your water instead of generating it directly. In a Colorado basement, it even helps cool the space in summer while heating your water. HEEHRA rebates of up to $1,750 are available.
The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Act provides point-of-sale rebates for qualifying electrification upgrades. For income-qualified households, rebates are significantly higher.
- Heat pump (space): up to $8,000
- Heat pump water heater: up to $1,750
- Electric dryer: up to $840
- Induction range/cooktop: up to $840
Point-of-sale rebate at participating retailers. Income-qualified households receive higher rebates. Program funded until depleted.
Some utilities offer additional rebates stacking on top of HEEHRA. Check your utility or use Sol Country's incentive lookup.
Xcel offers rebates for ENERGY STAR certified appliances. Check current amounts at xcelenergy.com/rebates.
Available at participating retailers for ENERGY STAR certified heat pump dryers.
Many utilities offer additional $50–$150 rebates on heat pump dryers. Check your utility's rebate page.
Eversource and National Grid customers in Massachusetts qualify for enhanced rebates through Mass Save.
The largest HEEHRA appliance rebate. Available at point of sale at participating retailers.
Several states offer additional tax credits stacking on HEEHRA. Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, and others.
Most major utilities offer $50–$400 rebates on heat pump water heaters through their energy efficiency programs.
Finance your heat pump water heater at 0% interest up to $25,000 through Mass Save's HEAT Loan program.
No gas. No oil. No tune-ups.
Battery lawn equipment has reached feature parity with gas — quieter, no emissions, and you charge it on your home electricity or solar panel.

- · Electricity: <$5/yr
- · No tuning
- · Total annual: <$10
Plus: Zero emissions · quieter for neighbors · no gas storage needed.
Battery lawn equipment does not currently qualify for federal tax credits. The savings come from elimination of fuel and maintenance costs only.
A small number of utilities offer rebates on battery lawn equipment as part of broader electrification programs. Check Sol Country's incentive lookup for your address.
The easiest win in your house.
If you still have any incandescent or CFL bulbs, replacing them with LEDs is the fastest payback of any product on this page.
Annual savings switching 20 bulbs to LED: $75–$150/year. A 4-pack of LED bulbs costs $5–$8. Pays back in weeks. Lasts 20+ years.
Many utilities offer instant rebates on ENERGY STAR LED bulbs at participating retailers — sometimes as low as $0.50/bulb. These rarely appear in DSIRE but are available at hardware stores in utility rebate program aisles.
LED bulbs don't qualify for federal tax credits — the savings are in the electricity bill reduction.
Hot water is 12% of your electricity bill.
Reducing hot water use directly reduces your electricity bill — not just your water bill. The cheapest fix costs $25.
Some water utilities offer rebates on WaterSense certified showerheads and fixtures. Check your local water utility — separate from your electric utility.
Low-flow showerheads don't qualify for federal credits. The value is in reduced water heating costs.
The cheapest mile you'll ever travel.
An e-bike charged at home costs less than 1¢ per mile to fuel. A gas car costs 10–15¢ per mile.
Most modern e-bikes go 40–60 miles on a single charge. Class 3 bikes with pedal assist can extend range significantly. Lectric XP 3.0 goes 45 miles. Aventon Pace 500.3 goes up to 60 miles.
Yes. A 395W balcony solar panel generates enough electricity to power approximately 3,500 miles of e-bike riding per year — effectively making your commute free once the panel pays for itself.
Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are legal on bike paths and roads in most US states. Class 3 bikes (up to 28 mph) have varying regulations — check your state. No license or registration required in most states.
A $999 Lectric XP 3.0 replacing 20% of your car trips saves approximately $500/year in gas. Payback: under 2 years. No other product on this page pays back faster.
The federal e-bike tax credit proposed in the Build Back Better Act was never passed. No federal credit currently exists for e-bike purchases.
Colorado, California, Connecticut, and several other states have e-bike rebate programs. Sol Country checks your state automatically.
